Cecilia
Pennetta
graduated in Physics summa cum laude at the University of Lecce. Fellow
for two
years at the Ecole Polytecnique Fédérale of Lausanne
(Switzerland) and at the International
School for Advanced Studies (SISSA) of
Trieste (Italy), she received the “Magister Philosophiae” degree in
Physics in
1983 at SISSA. Research assistant at the
Physics Department of the
Lecce University
from
1985 to 1999, she
belongs from 1999 to the Innovation
Engineering Department of the same
University. Since 2002 she is associate professor of
condensed matter at the Science
Faculty.
Involved in
many
national and international
research projects, she
has been responsible
or local
coordinator for some
of them. Referee
of international projects and several international journals, she is
member of the Editorial Board of "Fluctuation and Noise
Letters".
Invited speaker in several international conferences, she is permanent
member of the Scientific
Committee of UPoN (Int. Conf. on Unsolved
Problem on Noise) and co-chairman
of UPoN05 hold in June 2005 in
Gallipoli (Italy). Her research activity concerns theoretical and
computational aspects of the physics of condensed matter and of complex
systems. Her earlier
studies were devoted to solid state physics and, in particular, to the
electronic
properties
of
crystalline semiconductors and diffusion of charged
impurities
in these materials, investigated by total
energy
self-consistent pseudopotential calculations. Since
more than ten years her research activity concerns with: a)
electronic transport, noise and breakdown processes in
disordered, granular or nanostructured materials (semiconductors,
metals, oxides, conductor-insulator composites, organic materials); b)
electric
properties of large biomolecules; c) properties of complex networks; d)
fluctuations properties in non-equilibrium systems and non-Gaussian
behaviours; e) statistics of extreme events; f) time series analysis;
g) heart beat fluctuations.
Overall she is author of about 90 international publications.
